Calling all 4th through 8th graders on Hawaii Island! Registration for NexTech Hawaii’s fifth annual FishTank STEM Challenge is now open. This sustainability design challenge focuses on developing innovative and effective solutions to real island challenges while teaching students how to problem-solve, work as a team, use the engineering design process, and develop leadership skills.

To apply, teams must consist of two to four students and work with a designated team coordinator like a parent, educator, coach or mentor. Students will need access to high-speed internet and a desktop or laptop computer with a webcam.

FishTank runs for 12 weeks and includes three virtual workshops and one in-person event. Cash scholarship prizes will be awarded to winning teams. The deadline to register is Dec. 14, 2024.
