A team of Honolulu Community College students who designed a high-powered rocket claimed two awards at the 2024 First Nations Launch in Wisconsin held in April. Students Angello Portillo, Andrew Martin, DʻElle Martin, and Melody Ramos were tasked with designing a rocket that could reach an altitude of 2,000 feet and deploy a payload and parachute during descent.

Working together over the fall and spring semesters, the students learned how to design a payload, assemble and integrate rocket parts, and follow a launch procedure. Their collective effort earned them awards for Safety and Best Presentation during the event. Congrats to the team on their successful launch!
