NASA’s Artemis I mission made history on Monday, Nov. 28 when the uncrewed Orion spacecraft reached its maximum distance from Earth of 268,563 miles—farther than any spacecraft designed for human space travel has flown from our home planet. Orion’s solar array camera captured an incredible view of the Earth and Moon floating in the expanse of space during the height of the spacecraft’s distant retrograde orbit on day 13 of the 25-day mission. So far, mission controllers say Artemis I is exceeding expectations and performance milestones on all counts.
